A Sword Named Revenge (1981)
A Sword Named Revenge has a few things going for it. It features several dirty dealing, double-crossing women who are as cute as can be; some furious sword fighting , a funny fat guy, and an impotent dwarf. Director and cast benefit from a smart screenplay by Shaw Bros. Studio stalwart Ni Kuang. This film is one of those funny Taiwan made martial arts extravaganzas that moves swiftly and keeps the action compelling. It managed to hold my interest despite me thinking I’d be turning it off after a few sequences. Choppy editing and some mismatched cinematography make it a tough watch hindered by a terrible DVD presentation.
